When people first speak with me, they express feelings like, desperate, angry, helpless, stressed, lost, no-sense-of–belonging, not-good-enough, overwhelmed, and not-knowing-where-to-start. You may be feeling desperate, finding your life has unravelled, and that you have lost your way… When we meet, you are inviting me alongside you on your journey seeking understanding, meaning, and direction. I am a specialist on couple relationships, grief and loss, and NDIS disability.
I’m Robin, a qualified counsellor, working online and in-person in Forster-Tuncurry with couple relationships, individuals, and NDIS participants on relationship skills and emotional regulation. With specialisation in couple therapy, I am also a grief and loss specialist, and I provide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselling.
Relationships are the essence of life. Whether grieving the loss of a loved one, or facing relational breakdown with your significant other, finding our own place of belonging is critical for well-being. We’re wired for connection and attachment. Secure attachments give life meaning and help us face the world and conquer our dragons. Underneath our complaints we're asking, 'Do you love me?’, 'Are you there for me?’, 'Can I trust you?' People with relationship trauma need a safe, non-judgmental place for confronting and resolving their pain. Therapy takes courage, strength, determination and stamina to explore the real and unspoken issues and find a way forward.
Married forever and happily, I’m a grandma and mum with four adult children. I love bush walking, reading, and great coffee. Having worked through my own life traumas, including domestic violence and infidelity, I have lived-wisdom, and love seeing people reach their true potential no matter what may hold them back, be it disability, discrimination, or just the traumas of life.
Registered with the ACA, Australian Counselling Association, I earned my Post Graduate counselling qualifications in 2011 with Sydney College of Divinity, and am completing a Master of Counselling, with Torrens University, November 2024.
